 Drilling and Boring Companies

Choosing the Best Piling Contractors   by John Schofield

When you need to build a building either for your business such as condominiums, storied apartments or a supermarket you need to have solid columns for your structure. These columns will serve as the very foundations and anchor to support the overall weight of the building. The columns must be solidly anchored so that your building can firmly become upright and stable regardless of the size and height of the structure. This is why erecting columns is one of the most crucial jobs in doing construction business and the method in erecting columns for building purposes is called piling. Piling is essentially a technique used extensively by piling contractors. The process of piling involve setting up of deep foundations or columns by driving down piles of wood deep into the soil and pouring it with concrete and forging it with steel. It is a way of providing support columns for the building structure at the foundation level and this is the primary requirement for any construction project.

All about the Kinds of Piling

Piling contractors provide the industry of construction the required safety and security and all the piling needs for commercial, industrial and domestic building projects. Basically all of the piling needs must be handled by them because they are the people who are experts in determining what kinds of columns are required for different terrains. There are actually different kinds of piling. There is secant piling, construction piling, sheet piling, CFA piling, piling engineering and many more. Each piling undergoes different considerations and factors such as the capacity and scope of the project, size, the condition of the soil that is beneath the ground and the space that is required for rigging. Since there are different kinds of piling, contractors also use different materials for piling such as concrete, steel which is usually pre-cast, wood or vertical columns of wood, sheet piles, timber piles and so on.

Different Types of Piling Techniques

Housing development projects, commercial projects, road construction projects, marine projects and so on are only few of the projects being handled by piling contractors. There are different kinds of piling techniques that have different forms and variations used by piling contractors. With these techniques come different types of piling which can be differentiated from each type, techniques and mode of use.

1.Driven piles. This is the kind of technique that uses a Pile Driver and the method is done by driving in prefabricated piles into the ground. Most of the materials used here are concrete, wood and steel.

2.Drilled Piles. These are also called Cast-in-drilled-hole piles or known as the CIDH piles. It is extensively used as a boring technique when drilling into hard earth. This technique has different forms such as the Auger Cast Pile or better known as Continuous Flight Auger (CFA) piling.

3.There is also the under reamed piles, the pier and grade beam foundation pile, mini piling and the tripod piling.

The most commonly used piling devices are the pile driver which is a mechanical device for inserting or driving piles deep into the soil and the hydraulic hammer used in driving timber piles and pipes into the ground as well.
